Can’t wait for ice out!
Man I’m champing at the bit for some liquid water! I can’t wait to get the kayak out and wet a line. I spent some time organizing tackle which probably just made the anticipation worse. I can’t bring myself to try ice fishing. The whole proposition makes me nervous. Oh well, not too much longer.

I did ice fishing it is fun and maybe worth a try for you guys. Other than that, when it warms up it does break the ice on the creeks. Some good trout fishing goin on. Even steelhead fishing a blast this time of year and you won't get the circus.

RE: Can’t wait for ice out!
I used to ice fish a bunch. I'd get sad at ice-out. This season I'm anxious to get back on soft water. One of the lakes that I yak on has opened up completely because it has a lot of current and we've had some 60 degree days. I'm hoping to get on it with my yak if we get a 50 degree weekend. Right now it's pretty cold. 5 degrees. Most of our lakes are still under 1-2 ft of ice.

Hey Gronk! This was my 69th post! harhar...I'll stay in and watch the big game this weekend.

RE: Can’t wait for ice out!
This is going to sound twisted, and logic says that I should really be looking forward to open water and warmer temps (which I am), BUT I had so many things that I wanted to get done in the off season and I am not making a dent in that stuff, so I am a little reluctant to see warmer weather get here.

I wanted to work on the kayak in the heated garage and tie more flies and, and and .... The check marks next to my winter "to do" list are slim and far between. Note to self: get rear end in gear and move forward faster. Winter will be over and I don't want to be doing those project while I should be on the water.

Like I said, twisted thought patterns here - not wanting winter to end.

Can’t wait for ice out!
I'm beginning to picture everybody getting into their starter blocks at the beginning of the big track meet. Just waiting for the starter gun....

I went down to Field & Stream and spent some money. That stinking ground hog Phil can’t stop me from dreaming. Picked up my first baitcaster, a Lews Mach 2 combo. I got an umbrella rig and some other tackle. I’m ready to fish!

RE: Can’t wait for ice out!
You'll love that Lew's, Sweetbass. A couple of guys in my bass club use those exclusively. I don't have any because by the time I discovered them, I already had around 20 bait-caster setups. I didn't want to spend any more money on reels. You picked a great one to start with.
